A little too custom for my tastes but I can appreciate the work that went into it.

Don’t get me wrong - that thing is beautiful, and I’m sure a live-altering experience to drive. But the problem with building a car like this is you’re just never going to recoup the cost of building it.

Originally it was listed at $10K less than the cost to build.

Agreed. It’s crazy to think they put $770,000 into building it though. I can’t imagine that kind of thinking. Or budget. At the end of the day it’s a real good looking, fast Corvette. My guess is that you could say the same thing about another 10,000 Corvettes out there.

Imagine selling a car for 600k on craigslist.

They spent a lot of money to build something to their taste, now they have to find someone who shares that taste. That’s the conundrum of custom builds. It’s too modified for my tastes, personally, but it ain’t like I have the money to buy it anyway.

My gut says that this has a market value of US $150k-$200, thinking of the Icon-type builds.
But then, the Singer Porsche that sold at auction last year apparently fetched $857,500, so maybe the market for this Corvette really is at $600k.
Either way, it feels like the seller said “money is no object!” when building it, and now really doesn’t have a sense of what the actual market is for a car like this.

I agree with your gut.
I’d put Singer in a different and unique market. A very low volume production car that’s held its value. No two year wait time and possible to find one to your taste if your taste is vintage Porsche.

Just went through this process watching SSO2 sell from the Squarebody Syndicate crew. Arguably the best C10 custom ever built and it sold for $150k at Barrett Jackson this weekend. Best case scenario for a 2 year old SEMA build, that Corvette might crack 200.

He does realize that that’s like 3x the price of a Cord 812 Phaeton “baby Duesenberg” , right?

I know, right. It’s like HammerheadFistpunch said, there’s so many things I’d rather buy with this chunk of change.

Singers take thousands and thousands and thousands of hours to build. There is no conceivable way that this did.

For half a million I could build a small RallyX track, and buy every car in Munich dream car collection.
I have cheap tastes.

His first mistake was modifying a split window. Already a valuable car. And one with a much wider audience if it was just restored.
